Directors News April 13th, 2018

Dear Parents,

In this update I would like to focus on the progress of the new campus and important Day 1 information.

Bundek Campus:

It seems the winter has passed us with minimal weather related delays. Most of the construction has been completed and now large teams of workers are completing the fit out of the interior which will take several months. I am told by all standards here in Croatia, the building is progressing rapidly.

Although largely on schedule, we are planning the opening of the new campus conservatively. The most important consideration for the new school year is not the opening of the building but the smooth transition of our new students, and trouble free commencement of the academic year and a disruption free commencement to Grade 12 for our senior students.

For these reasons we will commence the new school year at our existing site on the August 20th 2018 (see calendar below) and stage the transition to the new building once the Occupancy Permit has been granted after the summer. It maybe unlikely too that this government document will be issued during the summer and we are unsure of how long this piece would take to complete at this time of year.

By taking a conservative approach to our move, we can guarantee that school will commence according to our calendar and our start-up will be smooth. We are also then able to stage our move and choose our opening day carefully in order to plan a great celebration in conjunction with our PTA.

We have also published our tender for a bussing service and have asked the competing companies for two options: door to door service which is more convenient but could be a much slower / longer service and for a service with a number of convenient pick up and drop off locations. When this process is complete I will inform the community of the outcome.

Parent Tours

After the steel construction has been completed we will be offering tours of the new building on a weekday and a Saturday yet to be announced but will be towards the end of April and start of May.

These tours will be  open to parents and adults only as it is still a working building site and for our students, we will organize tours catered specifically for them. Each tour will only be able to accommodate only 30 people so it will be whoever signs up first. I will send out a Google sign up form next week when we settle on a dates.
