Dear Parents,

It is my pleasure to have the opportunity to work with you and your children in my role as the School Counselor and Coordinator of Student Services here at AISZ.  Student services at AISZ includes the new Learning Center, English as a Second Language program, Guidance, and College Advising.  Our aim is to provide our student and parent community with comprehensive and effective services to assist in successful student learning.

It is during these school years when students develop attitudes concerning school, self, peers, social groups, family and future possibilities. As the adults in their lives, we are charged with providing our children with models for decision-making, communication and social skills, critical and creative thinking, and problem-solving.

Together, we can assist our children to develop into responsible world citizens.

Because students occasionally experience academic, emotional, social, or other difficulties at school, Student Services is available to assist in a number of areas.  Please contact me with questions and concerns or suggestions regarding your child's well being.

To parents of middle and high school students, I want to express how important your role continues to be both at home and at school. The secondary school years are a time of transition and growth for adolescents, as they develop and change cognitively, physically and socially.  The AISZ faculty recognizes that this brings special challenges for you at home.

Please know that the student services program at AISZ is committed to working with students, parents, teachers, and community resources to promote and enhance the learning process of our students.

Specifically, we assist with

·        academic development
·        personal and social development
·        career development
·        the post-secondary planning process.

These school years set the tone for developing the skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary for children to become healthy, productive adults. My goal is to work as a team with teachers, parents and community to create a caring atmosphere whereby children's academic, emotional, physical and social needs can be met. I am available to students before or after school, at recess breaks, and, with the teacher's permission, during the school day.

If you have a concern, a question, or a comment please don't hesitate to contact me. My office telephone number is +385.(0)1.46.80.133 ext. 109.  In addition, I can be reached by email at elizabeth.haddon@aisz.hr

I encourage you to set up an appointment with me at your convenience to discuss questions, concerns, and suggestions.  My office is a left hand turn at the stairs, at the end of the hall on the third floor of the school building.

Best wishes for a successful and happy year!

Elizabeth Haddon
