Through Inquiry & Integration
Our inquiry-based curriculum supports children in learning how to ask questions, explore big ideas, think critically about what they have learned and consolidate understanding. Through this inquiry, students are actively engaged in a variety of authentic, developmentally appropriate learning experiences. The curriculum is also designed to ensure that learners meet specific overall standards while striving to reach grade level benchmarks. Students needing specific support in learning English as an additional language, academic support or extension are provided for through our student support services.
By Learning to Learn
A primary focus of inquiry is supporting children in learning how to learn. As children engage in inquiry, they develop self-awareness and skills as learners. They arrive at the realization that:
- Understanding how we learn can help us become better learners;
- Learning can happen anywhere and at any time – we learn throughout our lives;
- There are things we can do to enhance the effectiveness of our learning;
- Each learner is unique – we all have different learning styles, preferences and strengths.
